Monday In Meals + Quinn’s Bedroom Revamp

Image
Good morning! Happy Valentine’s Day! It’s time for another edition of Monday In Meals where I share what I ate throughout the day. Yesterday was kind of an interesting day of eating because we had quite a few leftovers/foods on their last legs that needed to be used up (roasted sweet potatoes, kale, Bang Bang Buffalo Cauliflower , guacamole, grape tomatoes). I absolutely hate seeing food go to waste, so I did my best to incorporate what we had on-hand into yesterday’s meals, so it was kind of like how we eat at the end of the week versus the beginning of the week. Anyway, here’s my Monday In Meals with a “before” and “after” from Qman’s bedroom revamp! Breakfast : Scrambled eggs with roasted potatoes, kale, and ketchup + iced coffee with coconut creamer and collagen Post-workout : Protein shake + Pecan Sticky Bun iced coffee Lunch : Tuna salad with Bang Bang Buffalo Cauliflower and ranch dressing + half of a  Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough LARABAR (aka THE BEST flavor ever) S

Dear Mark: Hydroponic vs. Regular Vegetables; Lowering Blood Pressure Without Meds

For today’s edition of Dear Mark, I’m answering two questions. First up, do the nutrient contents of hydroponic produce differ from soil-grown produce? If so, in what way? Then I give a few (somehwat unprompted) tips for lowering blood pressure without meds. While meds  can  and do help people overcome or mitigate hypertension, we should apply other options. What are these possibilities? Let’s go: Hydroponic veggies – Any nutritional difference? Hydroponic: more room for things to go right or wrong. The mineral content of a hydroponically-grown leaf of spinach depends entirely on the minerals added to the growth solution. If the grower is clueless, their product will be less nutritious.  If you’ve got a hydroponic grower who knows what they’re doing, it can be great. They can even use hydroponic systems to incorporate nutrients we require but inadequately obtain ( like iodine ) into vegetables that normally don’t provide it (like lettuce).  What about polyphenols and other antio

When The Cat’s Away

Mommy is very sad!! Mazen and I only had a few days to spend together before he jetted off to Atlantis with Matt, Karen and that crew. The timing of our trips wasn’t ideal, but we spent as much time together as possible before he left. {Haircut!} He is having a blast down in the Bahamas, and this morning KK surprised Mazen and his little cousin Ava with a dolphin encounter. Talk about a super cool experience for a little boy! Wish I could have been there to see his face. Looking at the cup half full, I plan on making the most of the gift of extra time in my week. The weekend started off with a dinner salad with chicken sausage, cheese, avocado, and a delicious side of vino. On Saturday Thomas and I went hiking up Humpback Rock. The forecast predicted a warm 69 degrees, but it was far from warm up there! It’s February – what were we thinking?! I almost got blown off the mountain. We had a picnic at the top with sandwiches from The Market and the best Route 11 dill chips. Tu
