Gym Days Make Me Crazy, Crazy Happy

Image
Hi, guys! It’s finally nap time here, so I just wanted to pop in with a quick recap of our morning. Quinn’s school is closed today (they’re without power), so we had a fun “ gym day ” together. Early this morning, when I asked him if he was excited for our upcoming adventures, his response was: “Gym days make me crazy, crazy happy!” I mean, is that not the cutest thing ever? 🙂 I love that Quinn loves gym days as much I as do! Breakfast this morning was Pumpkin + Chia Overnight Oats from Daily Harvest , who makes all sorts of awesome frozen overnight oats, smoothies, and soups delivered right to your front door. A Weekend of Red Eyes, Fossils, and Sunshine

Sunshine, FINALLY! Our weekend started with some crazy winds that cut the power for a good portion of Virginia. Some of my friends still don’t have it. Friday vibes: We made our second of four Blue Apron meals for dinner: seared steaks with mashed potatoes. Steak isn’t something I usually crave, but it always tastes so good! We had cabbage and apple saute on the side. After dinner, Thomas and I had a special date night in to watch The Shape Of Water . We had the idea to order cookies from Red Eye Cookie Co. which delivers hot cookies to your doorstep for a $2 charge (and an $8 minimum). What a cool service from Red Eye! MY OTHER RECIPES We tried four kinds (two of each) and nibbled on them all weekend. The chocolate chip and cookies & cream flavors were AMAZING! The peanut butter and signature red eyes (like red velvet) cookies were good, but I am a classic cookie kin

Thanking Our Lucky Stars

Hi, guys! Happy Monday! We had quite the eventful weekend on the South Shore. We lost power for a few hours on Friday night because of the storm, but, luckily, it came back on before we all went to bed. We were VERY lucky because tons of people, including some of our friends, are STILL without power. We definitely thanked our lucky stars and offered our home for showering, charging, and whatever else was needed. What a crazy few days for the South Shore. Hopefully, everything will be restored soon enough. Qman was up and at ’em at 5:30 AM on Saturday morning. I actually went to bed at 8:00 PM the night before, so waking up at that hour wasn’t bad at all. (Mental note: I really should start going to bed earlier.) We snuggled on the couch, played, and then made pancakes for Dada. After breakfast, one of our neighbors called to tell us that one of our packages ended up at his house during the storm. It was my new book: Food: What the Heck Should I Eat . It was a little wet and the p
