You may have heard some of the public outcry to ban plastic straws. Well, there’s definitely something to it… In America alone, we use over 500 million plastic straws each day. That’s A LOT of waste. Plus these straws are made using potentially toxic petrochemicals. One study showed that a third of the tested plastic products released toxic substances. And it gets worse. These toxins leached out of the plastic samples when exposed to organic substances. In other words, the toxins come out when contacting our food. And if you’re like me… You DO NOT want to use anything toxic in your food. Or home. Fortunately, the world is moving away from plastic straws. In fact, California has become the first state to outright ban plastic straws from restaurants. That’s a BIG win. So, what other options do we have? Today Lindsay’s here sharing one of her favorite keto-friendly sauces—chimichurri. One of the best ways to keep your keto eating varied and flavorful is to experiment with great tasting sauces. Chimichurri is one the most versatile choices as well as one of the easiest to adapt to you own personal tastes. In less than five minutes you can have a double batch ready for the week ahead. Enjoy! ? ? Chimichurri Servings: 4 Prep Time: 5 minutes Cook Time: none Ingredients: 1/2 cup parsley, chopped 1/4 cup fresh oregano (discard stems) 4 garlic cloves 3 tablespoons red wine vinegar or apple cider vinegar 2 teaspoons crushed red pepper flakes Salt and pepper to taste 1/3 cup vinegar (red wine, apple cider or coconut vinegar) 1/2 cup Primal Kitchen® Extra Virgin Avocado Oil Instructions: Put parsley, oregano and garlic cloves in food processor. ^^Paddleboarding with Grammie ! My heart is at the beach. But boy does it feel great to be back at my house with all of our gear, clothes, routine. I think to mesh heart and home, the house needs to move to the beach! #retirementgoals. Our Last Day At Bald Head All three of the kids started to melt down a bit by our last day. Hence I don’t have any photos of our final dinner – a take out BBQ spread featuring pork, brisket, mac and cheese, baked beans, slaw, and cornbread. It was delish! The only two photos I took of the last day included this happy group scene (minus Mazen’s pouty face…) And Birch skinny dipping in the ocean!! (And now that I’m looking at this pic, that is a little too deep for sharks Thomas!) Early Ferry Ride Our crew left for the ferry at 7:30, getting up at 6am for final packing and breakfast.
