Review of Getaway Boston [Tiny House] + Discount Code

Hey guys! We recently spent the weekend in a tiny house, courtesy of Getaway, and I wanted to tell you all about our experience aka here’s a review of Getaway Boston (tiny house) + discount code!

The nice people at Getaway offered us a weekend away in one of their tiny houses. Mal and I are kind of obsessed with tiny houses, and since they’re dog friendly, we took them up on their offer and made the short road trip up north for a final summer getaway. We stayed at the Boston location, which is technically in Epson, New Hampshire. It was an easy and beautiful 2 hour drive from our house on the South Shore. I’m so excited to write this blog post, and I hope my enthusiasm comes through in my video review. I hope you guys enjoy this review of Getaway Boston (tiny house) + discount code!

Review of Getaway Boston [Tiny House]

We had a truly awesome experience and definitely want to visit again in the feature! Our Getaway experience was kind of like camping, but “glamping” style, so we had a bed, bathroom, mini kitchen, and of course, the great outdoors. It was a lot more my style and definitely a great option with younger kids, who might not be quite ready for a full-on camping experience. When we arrived at our tiny house, we simply had to punch in a code to the keypad and we were in. There wasn’t any sort of “official” check-in, which made starting our vaca so easy!

The tiny house really had everything you could have needed and more. They had provisions you could purchase like pasta, pasta sauce, popcorn, candy, etc. In addition, all sorts of cooking equipment, tea kettle, utensils, olive oil, and other basics were provided. There just wasn’t a coffee maker or way to get ice. Luckily, as iced coffee connoisseurs, we came prepared! There was also a radio, some books, a deck of cards, and the bathroom had towels, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. There was even a small first aid kit that Quinn thought was really cool!

In the middle of the tiny house was a small table where we ate breakfast one morning. We also played “War” there, which is Quinn’s new favorite card game.

The sleeping situation was two queen size bunk beds. Quinn, of course, took the top bunk, and we all slept really well.

The tiny house was also extremely dog-friendly. Even though we brought all of Murph’s stuff, they had a food, water bowl, treats, a long leash, and even poop bags. Getaway literally thought of everything! (They must be dog people, too!)

Outside the tiny house were adirondack chairs, picnic table, and everything you needed to make a fire (i.e. wood, fire starters, lighter). There was even a kit to make s’mores! 🙂

Surprisingly, it wasn’t very buggy outside (though we came prepared with bug spray and citronella candles), so it was nice to be able to enjoy the outdoors without getting bit.

What to do near Getaway Boston

I will say there is not a ton to do around the “campground” of tiny houses. Of course, you can go hiking, and there is a cute brewery down the street, but not much else. I really think Getaway is intended to “getaway” from the craziness of life, but we are definitely “let’s doing a million things on vacation,” so we ended up driving to Concord (about 20 minutes away) one day to hike at the Oak Hill Tower Trail.

The next day, we decided to venture off to Manchester (about 35 minutes away) for a delicious dinner at Firefly, which was dog-friendly, too. It had an adorable outdoor patio, and the food and staff were awesome!

I definitely think renting a tiny house (or 2 or 3) would be so fun with a group of friends. (We already planted the seed with our hometown friends for next summer!) It might be a bit tricky with young kids, just because the sleeping situation might be tough (with naps and early bedtimes), but I’d say it is perfect for kids 5 and older. It’s also rather affordable. The Boston location cost anywhere from $119-$139/night. Getaway has other locations in Atlanta, Boston, DC, Dallas, LA, New York, Pittsburg, and Portland.

Balsamic Drumsticks

This sticky and slightly sweet balsamic sauce is one of the simplest recipes you’ll find. Four ingredients. Five minutes’ total effort. It doesn’t get much easier than that—especially for meat this finger-licking delicious. Bonus: It’s Primal+keto—and family-friendly. Serve it up at your next family dinner or hosted gathering.

Note: We love this sauce on drumsticks, but it’s also perfect for bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs. Serve with your favorite salad or vegetable.

Servings: 3

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 50 minutes

Preheat your oven to 400 ÂşFahrenheit. Combine the marinade ingredients together. Pour 1/3 of the marinade into a bowl and toss drumsticks in the marinade. Lay the drumsticks on a parchment-covered sheet pan and brush with any residual marinade from the bowl. Bake for 15-20 minutes.

Bake the drumsticks for 20 minutes. During this time, simmer the remaining marinade over medium-low heat until the sauce begins to bubble. Stir frequently until the sauce has thickened to the consistency of runny honey and set aside. After 20 minutes in the oven, remove the drumsticks and brush half of the thickened marinade on top of them. Bake for another 10 minutes. Brush remaining marinade on top and place the drumsticks back in the oven until they reach an internal temperature of 165-170 degrees. Allow to rest for 5 minutes before eating.
