Life Lately + Summer Fun

Heyyyyyy, friends! I hope you had a wonderful weekend! 🙂

Just wanted to share some photos from the weekend as well as this past week to show you guys what we’ve been up to lately…

At a barbecue yesterday afternoon, Qman got a really good look at our friends’ (cold, not-in-use) fire-pit. Haha! Too cute!

Quinn is a natural at Polish Horseshoes. He understood what to do right away, which was quite entertaining to watch while the guys tried to play a game! 😉

Quinn and I spent this morning playing with cousin Matthew and all of his cool toys!

That tongue! <3

Seen on my run: Pug on guard. This sign definitely made me smile!

We had friends over for dinner on Friday night and they brought Strawberry Shortcake. We loved it so much, we brought the same thing to a barbecue the next day and it was a huge hit with everyone!

My new favorite breakfast: Veg + eggs. Last Sunday, I sauteed a bunch of baby spinach, zucchini, and shredded Brussels sprouts in coconut oil and then reheated it during the week before topping it with a couple of fried eggs. So delicious, so nutritious.

I made a Desi Linden shoelace bracelet! Clearly, my middle name is “crafty.”

I’m ramping up my mileage in preparation for a 10-mile race in just a few weeks, and I realized just how much I missed the solo time. There’s nothing better than a long run and a podcast.

It was too hot for pugs last week, so Murphy enjoyed cooling off in Quinn’s pool. Remember the time we put the pug in a cooler?

Speaking of the pug… He’s going to have his first experience with boarding later this week. We’re heading to Seattle on Wednesday, and Mal and I totally dropped the ball on asking our dog sitter to watch Murphy. I really don’t know what happened. It slipped our minds/we assumed the other person got things squared away, so, long story short, our usual dog sitter wasn’t able to watch the pug on such short notice. We eventually decided to board Murphy at his vet’s office, which everyone assures me is going to be just fine. Murphy’s never been boarded before, so I’m a little nervous about how he’ll handle it. His vet is great, but the thought of leaving him there breaks my heart. *sigh* Murphy’s going to be totally fine, right?

Over the weekend, I tried Dreaming Tree Sauvignon Blanc and really liked it. I’m not usually a huge fan of California Sauvignon Blancs (I’m more of a New Zealand gal), but I wanted to see what the Dave Matthew’s wine was all about. This one was fresh and crisp with hints of grapefruit and lime– just how I like my whites!

My aunt makes these adorable chocolate boxes called The Dog Pound, and she gave me one for my birthday, so I just wanted to give her business a little shout-out. The Dog Pound comes with 16 Chocolate Lab medallions and it’s super cute– perfect for the Lab lover in your life!

On Saturday, we did “Zeus” at CrossFit. It was probably one of the hardest workouts I’ve ever done. The combination of exercises kicked my butt and, wow, I am sore today.

I had my blood taken before my Entyvio infusion the other day and things are looking up! Maybe the Entyvio is finally kicking in because my inflammation numbers (i.e. CRP, SED) are some of the lowest they’ve been in YEARS!!! And my platelets are in the normal range, which is a first in a lonnnggggg time! Let’s hope my heath continues to improve!

I am Precision Nutrition Level 1 Certified! Woohoo! I loved the program and can’t wait to put my certification to good use! Exciting news coming SOON!
