Cape Cod Vacation: Toddler Favorites

Hey, hey! We’re back from our vacation to Cape Cod. We rented a house in Bourne with some friends for the week and had a wonderful time… well, minus “the plague” (aka stomach bug) that hit some of our group, but we made the best of it, especially with the kiddos in mind. That said, here are some of our favorite family moments with Quinn from our vacation!

Spending time at the beach. The house we rented was just steps from the ocean, so we spent a lot of time there.

Swimming and playing “Dragon Rider” in the ocean.

“Dragon Rider” is basically Mal or me giving Quinn a piggyback ride, running around and screaming, while the other person chases them. Quinn is the “dragon rider” while Mal and I are “dragon monsters.” It’s a lot of fun, and Qman cracks up laughing so hard! It’s easily his favorite game right now!

Visiting the Cape Cod Children’s Museum. Quinn loved the museum so much, we actually visited two different times during our stay on Cape Cod. It was great for toddlers, and he had an absolute blast!

Playing on the deck. The house had an amazing (kid-friendly, totally fenced in, no stairs) deck overlooking the ocean, so we spent a lot of time playing there and hanging out.

Eating Dada’s pancakes for breakfast. One morning, Mal made his famous cake-like pancakes in variety of flavors, including blueberry, strawberry, chocolate chip, and Cinnamon Toast Crunch. They were incredible!

Boats and boats and more boats. Qman was obsessed with all of the boats at the nearby beach and couldn’t get enough of them.

Looking for hermit crabs!! Qman really liked the boats, but he LOVED looking for hermit crabs in the ocean. We spent a ton of time searching for them during our vacation!

He seriously thought they were SO COOL…

So we surprised him with a couple of windup crabs from the Children’s Museum gift shop, which, of course, made him so happy!

(They made Mal pretty happy, too!)

Exploring Falmouth. We took a couple of day trips to Falmouth (about 30 minutes away) and we loved exploring the downtown area. Highlights: Buying books at Eight Cousins Bookshop.

And sharing a huge chocolate croissant at Maison Villatte! 🙂

Playing at the playgrounds in Falmouth. This was definitely a favorite for all of us! We loved the Village Science Playground at Mullen-Hall School as well as the one at Goodwill Park (615 Palmer Ave). We all had a blast running, climbing, and exploring!
