Supporting The Arts

I have had three emails fall into my inbox about music and theater projects that are looking for support. If you’re a lover of the arts, check these creative projects out!

My childhood friend Meghan Gambling produced the play Bonnie’s Future Sisters, which is about an engagement party that goes awry, set in North Carolina. It was winner of The Producer’s Award and selected for extension as part of The Encore Series at the Hollywood Fringe Festival, and Meghan is working through kickstarter to bring the play from L.A. to NYC for the New York International Fringe Festival this August.

My cousin, Chris Kiehne, is finishing up production on an album by his good friend Sonya Cotton titled “When I Go Home.” Chris has been creating and producing music as long as I have known him, and everything he does is unique and beautiful. Sonya’s voice and lyrics are filled with emotion, and the album is dedicated to her late mother. They are accepting pre-orders for both digital copies ($10) and a vinyl release ($25) to bring the album to life. I promise you’ll love this music!

And finally, another theater production heading to the NYC Fringe Festival! For anyone whose life has been touched by an eating disorder (or anyone who loves musical theater!), please check out this new musical written by blog reader Katie Berger: FULL. The Musical. It follows the journey of Harper, a 17 year old girl who has lost her father and whose life seems to be spiralling out of control. In her moment of vulnerability, she finds a new friend named Emily (who is a manifestation of her disorder). As Harper grows stronger, Emily grows weaker until finally she decides it’s time to say goodbye.  She decides to be the hero of her own story. FULL isn’t a musical about eating disorders. It’s a musical about finding yourself and being the hero of your own story.

Katie is raising money to transport the set from Florida to NYC for the Fringe Festival next month.
