Back To Fall Shopping

When I was younger my mom would always take us back-to-school shopping. We usually had a budget but we could pick the store where we wanted to shop. For me that was the Limited Too (until the whole store turned into glitter!), followed by Abercrombie & Fitch (until the shorts were so short I couldn’t wear them), then onto LOFT, Gap, and J. Crew in later years. If we are lucky, sometimes mom sends us a check in the mail to put towards a new outfit for fall! (Crossing fingers for 2016!)

I always get excited about the changing seasons because I uncover either my warm or cold weather wardrobe. Often I have bought things on sale at the end of the previous season that I don’t remember and find them by surprise. I also try to clean out my current season clothes and consign or giveaway anything I didn’t wear that year. And managing a growing child’s clothes?! That’s a huge challenge in itself.

thredUP is the perfect solution for buying or selling seasonal clothes for grown-ups and kids alike. As a well-curated online consignment shop they have tons and tons of options, from high-end designer wear to sporty kids clothes.

You’ll find tons of brands you know, and most of the clothing and accessories are 90% off the retail price. Since thredUP is a consignment shop, the items are like new or brand new with tags on. And if you’re looking for a sparkly gold dress in size 6 for an upcoming party you can search, and easily narrow down the huge selection.

As you’re cleaning out your closet each season (which you do do, right?!) simply request and fill up a free thredUP Clean Out Bag and sell back items you gently wore or never loved. Buying secondhand is a great way for us all to share the fashion love, and at the end of 2015 thredUP had upcycled over 14 million items, saving water, energy, and landfill space. (Of course thrift stores appreciate well-loved clothing so much, so donate the rest!)

This fall I needed dresses, and Mazen needed jackets, button-down shirts, and soccer shorts. I found everything we needed and more! I loved that they all came with thredUP tags on them – it made them feel brand new (although the blue and white J. Crew dress was new with tags and only $39!)

Some of the other pieces in my order included: two pairs of sport shorts for Mazen ($5 a piece), two Baby Gap button downs for Mazen ($7 each), jacket for Mazen ($10), raincoat for Mazen ($15), Gap dress ($19), Jessica Simpson dress ($19), LOFT dress ($19), Express dress ($18), Gap cross body purse ($16).
