Life Since Thanksgiving…

Hi, guys! Happy Sunday!

Just wanted to check-in and say ‘hello’ since I haven’t blogged since Wednesday. Holy cow. I’m pretty sure that’s the longest CNC has gone without a new post. I took a few days off to relax and unwind with my family during the Thanksgiving holiday, and, man, it was much-needed and so, so, so nice. Anyway, I just wanted to share what we’ve been up to since last Thursday!

Thanksgiving partner WOD at Salt Shack followed by iced coffees (and a “no-nut” sample for Qman) at Coffee Shack. It was a really nice way to start Thanksgiving! And a shout-out to Mal, who wore turkey socks to the workout. Brooks also makes Christmas socks in both the crew and ankle sizes. FYI: Both styles are 30% off right now. And, hey, it’s the perfect time to stock up for holiday road races! 🙂

Thanksgiving dinner with my family was wonderful. It was great to see everyone and the food was excellent, especially the killer dessert spread. Our family LOVES dessert (so much, in fact, my aunt owns a handmade chocolate business), so I made it a point to save room to try a few! 🙂

I made Cauliflower Stuffing for Thanksgiving dinner and, oh my gosh, I am OBSESSED with the recipe. Guys, it really does taste like stuffing! I actually made another batch just yesterday because I want to eat it everyday for the rest of my life… or at least everyday until the end of the year. C’mon, I’m not crazy.

We gave Quinn one of his Christmas presents a little early, and it was a huge hit. I bought him this constellation nightlight and it arrived the day before Thanksgiving. I knew we’d drive home from my Grammie’s house after dark, so we surprised him with it in the car… and, guys, the excitement on his face was priceless. He absolutely loved it. Best toddler surprise ever!

Watching the National Dog Show with Murphy on Thanksgiving evening. It’s a yearly tradition, but, this year, Murphy watched from the couch. Lucky dog.

Exchanging anniversary gifts with Mal. I made him a Chatbook from my Instagram account (basically, ALL photos of Quinn) and he absolutely loved it. Qman pointed to every page and said “me” with such glee. It was super cute.

FYI: Chatbooks are the bomb. Not sponsored. I have no relationship with the company; I just think they are the coolest thing ever. I also made a Chatbook for my mom for her birthday (once again, all photos of Qman), and she loved it too. The Chatbook software links right to your Instagram account, so it makes it SO EASY to create one (unlike a lot of those photobook sites out there). Right now, Chatbook is offering 20% OFF EVERYTHING. Just use code: MERRY20. Ends 11/28.

My anniversary gift from Mal: Zella ‘Frosty’ Asymmetrical Zip Pullover! I lovvvvveee it. It’s so soft and cozy. I’m so happy that my not-so-subtle hints worked! 🙂

Last night, Mal and I celebrated 13 years together!

We went to dinner at Galley Kitchen & Bar in Scituate after hearing rave reviews from a number of our friends.

Galley serves small plates/tapas, so Mal and I had a little fun picking out what to order.

We ordered the Prosciutto Wrapped Dates, Fried Oyster Slider, Grilled Shrimp, Hog Shanks, and Drunken Mussels, and we had mixed reviews. We really liked the Hog Shanks (with the ranch dressing = incredible), Grilled Shrimp, and Mussels, but the other two plates weren’t all that great. I’m sure it’s what we picked, but, meh, we weren’t fans. Even still, we loved the vibe of Galley and would definitely visit again.

When we finished eating dinner, it wasn’t even 7:00 pm, so we headed to Legal C Bar to continue our night out.

The featured white wine flight was awesome. All my favorites!

We also ordered a spicy tuna roll to share.

And a dessert martini? Yes, please! Mal and I had such a fun time celebrating together!!

Unrelated to anything: Since Thanksgiving, I’ve pretty much eaten this entire box of Honey Nut Chex by myself. I forgot how delicious they are! Can’t stop, won’t stop.

And, finally, our little family is gearing up for the holidays. We’re decorating our house today and getting our Christmas tree tonight. And mark your calendars for the 5th Annual 24 Days of Togetherness! I should have a blog post up later this week if you want to join in on the holiday fun!
