How to get your sugar cravings under control and feel better fast!

There is one ingredient that has been brought up to me many times that I haven’t spent a lot of time covering, but given the state we are in with so many food industry deceptions happening, I needed to do more than just write an article about it. This ingredient is considered “natural” too. I read your comments and emails to me every day and listen to the problems you’re having trying to break away from the processed food industry – and the NUMBER ONE issue you’ve expressed to me is your struggle to tame cravings and avoid SUGAR . Sugar is the most prevalent food additive – found in about 80% of food at the grocery store ! Isn’t that insane? The industry adds sugar because they know it’s addicting and it’s a cheap way for them to hook us on their products. And are we ever! You might be thinking, “Well, I don’t eat very much sugar” and that what I’m saying doesn’t apply to you. Almost all of us have fallen for this trap – including myself! Even if you are eating an organic d

Primal Challenge Point: Live Your Inner Athlete

It’s fascinating, I think, to see what the human body is capable of—not a “perfect,” standardized, conventionally “ideal” physique but a real body with individual uniqueness and stunning utility.  Many people unfortunately assume they aren’t “athlete material” because they don’t believe they have the body for it—or so they’ve been told (directly or indirectly). Your body, however, is so much more than your build—or your years—or your current condition. Sure, most of us will never be professional athletes, but the fact remains: if you have a body, you’re an athlete. The identity and intention dwell in your genes themselves. Whether you’re a 5 foot tall rhythmic gymnast waiting to happen or a lanky dude who’s built for covering long distances quickly, there’s a niche for you. You embody, in some way, the athletic mission of our species. Maybe you haven’t figured out what that embodiment is yet.  Let me say point blank: find your athletic embodiment in your lifetime. You won’t be sor

Gettin’ All Cozy

We had a super cold weekend here in Cville, like many of you in the Northeast. I hope everyone was safe! I can’t imagine living in a place that was this cold for more than a few days of the year. Kudos to those of you who can tough it out in negative temperatures and wind chills! I don’t know how you do it. On Friday morning I had a Quaker Overnight Oats cup with lots of peanut butter. I heated the oats a bit so they wouldn’t decrease my core temp! Do you remember the Summer House in the Narnia movie The   Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe  where it’s always summer in the middle of the frozen forest? I used to LOVE that house in the movie. My hot yoga studio (Elements) feels a bit like that house now. You can walk into class in a tank and shorts where it’s 90 degrees and pretend it’s a warm summery day. You will find me there all winter! Friday lunch was a date with Thomas to Timbercreek Market. We shared a lamb burger and arugula salad. Both were absolutely amazing! For Friday
