My Training at 46!!

How Bad Are Peanuts, Really?

First KFIT Bootcamp Workout at Hingham Location

Hi, guys!

Hump Day started bright and early for me. I woke up around 3:30 AM and could NOT fall back to sleep. I’ve actually been sleeping really well lately and then… BAM… crappy night of sleep. Ughhhhh. I was totally wired at that hour, and I *think* it was related to hormones (I’ve been keeping a journal), but my random Googling (in the middle of the night) didn’t clear things up. Hopefully, the hormone course that I’m taking in April will help me make sense of it all.

Anyway, by 6:30 AM, I was more than ready for breakfast. I had made overnight oats with vanilla protein powder, chia seeds, and sunflower seeds in an almost-empty Teddie peanut butter jar, so breakfast was waiting for me in the fridge.

After breakfast, I got Quinn and myself ready for the day. After I dropped him off at school, I headed to KFIT for a workout – my first one at the new location!

And, whoa, the workout was no joke: 1.5 mile run with a weighted vest, 100 KB swings, and planks. It’s like Kerrie knows I’m coming when she programs the workout. Haha!

I was especially glad to have some buddies to keep me going!

After class, I refueled with a protein shake mixed with the rest of my iced coffee from the morning and dug into my lunch earlier than usual (haddock, kale, and Chimichurri). When I wake up super early, I find myself eating ALL DAY LONG. Anyone else?

3 Ways To Use Truvani Turmeric

One of the most unique qualities of our Truvani Daily Turmeric Supplement is that the tablets are uncoated, so you can use them in recipes at home. This is great for people who have difficulty swallowing tablets, or simply don’t like popping pills.

This supplement is REAL FOOD after all. This is just one way that Truvani Turmeric is so remarkable and different from other supplements on the market. Not to mention – the first USDA Certified Organic and Glyphosate Residue Free turmeric on the market! In this new video, I give you three delicious ways to enjoy your Truvani Turmeric…

# 1.  Make a nourishing tea!

Simply pop a turmeric tablet in a mug and pour over it with hot water to instantly make hot turmeric tea. Tea is something that I enjoy daily and is one of my favorite rituals. This tea is great when you are traveling too – the tablets hardly take up any room in your bag and are so easy to drop in hot water at the airport or wherever you are!

Truvani Turmeric Tea

  1. Heat the water in a pot over medium heat.
  2. Take off the stove and pour 8 ounces into a cup.
  3. Add 1 Truvani Turmeric tablet and let dissolve. Enjoy!

#2.  Whip it into a smoothie!

Add up to three tablets (per serving) to virtually any of your favorite smoothie recipes. I love adding superfoods like turmeric to my smoothies to get the most nutritional punch that I can. This citrus smoothie is satisfying and almost like a decadent creamy milkshake – but super healthy!

Truvani Citrus Blast Smoothie

  • 3 oranges, peeled (choose a variety)
  • 2 frozen bananas, peeled
  • 1 cup chopped papaya, peeled
  • 8 ounces plain yogurt
  • 6 Truvani Turmeric tablets
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  1. Place all of the ingredients in a blender and blend to combine.
  2. To serve, pour 8 ounces into a cup. Enjoy!

#3. Simmer it into Golden Milk!

This soothing drink is perfect before bedtime. It’s really relaxing and helps to take the edge off. I like to drink my golden milk like a little dessert after dinner and that’s why I add maple syrup to it. You can take out the maple syrup if you want, or use coconut sugar or honey instead – any of those would be equally delicious.

Truvani Golden Milk (Warm or Iced)

  • 16 ounces coconut or almond milk
  • 3 Truvani Turmeric tablets
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1-2 tablespoons maple syrup or raw honey

  1. Place all of the ingredients in a small pot over medium low heat.
  2. Gently simmer for 8-10 minutes to combine flavors.
  3. To serve, pour 8 ounces of golden milk into a cup. Enjoy!

To make Iced Golden Milk, complete directions 1-2. To serve, pour 8 ounces of golden milk into a cup filled with ice.

Midweek Quick Cooking: PB&J Smoothie (and a Contest)

Over To The Dark Side

Y’all know I love a good bedding update! I’ve been on the bright white and neutral bedding band wagon for years. Last year when I discovered my favorite sheets (Target’s Threshold Performance Sheets) I ventured away from all white and got a few cute patterns. Lately I am digging darker, thicker, textured, moodier bedding when I see inspiration photos. Our bedroom is totally bland neutral in the wall, carpet, and bed colors, so the white/lighter bedding felt a bit blah to me in this space. I decided to take a risk with something dark.

I donated one of my duvet covers (I had two, a white one and a linen stripe one) to the Marsh House, and I earned some reward credits from my Pottery Barn card from helping my parents buy new beds. I put those reward credits and a 20% off code to good use and got myself a new D A R K and textured duvet cover!

Navy is one of our house accent colors. It’s classic and a bit nautical and hides stains well. (I’m looking at you, Gus!) So, I had been keeping my eye out for a navy blue duvet cover for a while. I checked Target, West Elm, and Crate and Barrel, along with Pottery Barn, but they didn’t have anything I loved at the time. Then I stumbled upon this Honeycomb textured cover and shams on sale a few weeks ago when Pottery Barn sent out a bedding email. (They know how to get ya!)

(I kind of like how the weight of the fabric + the buttons gives a scalloped edge look! ^)

The duvet matches the Target sheets so well. You can see the true color and texture here without the light shining so brightly. It is very heavy and cozy! (Speaking of sheets, Thomas HATED the flannel ones I bought from Target this winter. Not sure what to do with them since I can no longer return them. At least they were only $25! I might sneak them on a few times a year on the coldest nights.)

To brighten up the bed just a little, I added this Ashley Bird sham I found on clearance. I am also really into tropical florals right now! If I could have all the duvets in the world, I would buy this one and this one too. Our bedroom definitely needed some bright colors. I have been tempted to add an area rug over the blah carpet, but every time I have attempted it with a smaller rug, it just looks bad. Any suggestions?

Another dark blue update: jeans! Remember when I wrote this post? You guys were FULL of recommendations! It seems that the Old Navy Rockstars and the Madewell High Rises were the most recommended picks. I haven’t had a free day to go shopping yet, but I do have a new pair of high-rise jeans! You got a preview of them in this pic from the Luke Bryan concert:

Blog reader Savannah has opened Revive Clothing Boutique, an online store that focuses on American-made denim. Savannah writes: “Revive’s hallmark is American-made denim and the boutique strives to continually offer the best fitting jeans in on-trend silhouettes, at a reasonable price.” The boutique’s focus on American made supports the US economy, fairly paid workers, and a reduced carbon footprint. They also have tops, sweaters, and dresses. (I love this color block cowl neck!) I also love that they feature REAL models of all sizes! The code KATHEATS will get you 15% off anything at Revive!

Savannah sent me the Just Black Just Basic Ankle Skinny. What I loved about them most was the thick fabric. They are high-rise as promised, and they DO stay up way better than many of my low/mid rise jeans. The color is great as well!

To start my morning off extra cozy once I got out of that bed: eggs, orange, toast, and tea! (I switched to mint tea after my one cup of coffee.)

What kind of bedding style do you have?
