We are still here, flyin’ around on golf carts and enjoying the pretty views. We hit a couple of colder days down here in the low country. (And they are calling for snow in Cville this weekend – ugh! This is the slowest spring to arrive that I remember in history!)
Overnight oats with granola + peanut butter
We did some indoor crafts and games – do you remember Shrinky Dinks?!
We also played Go Oink! And Sorry and Connect Four.
Mazey and I played “fishing from a canoe” in the hammock for a while. I think this hammock was the best “toy” we brought!
Hot dogs, chips, and apples for lunch
I went for another run that sent me straight for the ocean. On Wednesday I slipped away to the Island Spa for a little pampering! Thomas has played a few rounds of golf too. The course here is golfer’s heaven complete with alligators!
Dinner Wednesday was spaghetti and meat sauce, garlic bread, and a big salad.
Thomas baked a cake for dessert!
Thursday morning we had oatmeal with granola and peanut butter by the marsh.
Thomas and I went to the club fitness center for a little workout. I cranked away on the elliptical and then did some free weights.
Lunch sandwiches with chips and fruit.
The high was only about 56 degrees so we stayed indoors most of the day playing games and reading. I finished The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, which I liked very much!! I started The Great Alone (by the same author as The Nightengale, my favorite book in recent history) and it’s SO good!! I love frontier/wilderness books. I also watched Survivor and we finished This Is Us. (Meh on the ending of This Is Us.)
Thursday evening we were treated to a date night while G+P took Mazen on their own dinner adventure.
We went to the restaurant at the Shoal’s Club called Aqua. It has stunning views and a great menu.
I had a coconutty pineapple nutmeg cocktail.
We shared these baked oysters with pimento cheese and conch fritters to start. They were SO good and caught just off the shore. I always order pimento cheese when I see it on a menu no matter how it’s served.
We shared the local grouper with a grit cake and pickled cabbage for an entree along with…
… this amazing gnocchi with shiitake mushrooms, tomatoes, and kale and a red pepper sauce.
And for dessert – a Toffee Coffee Cake with butterscotch sauce and salted caramel ice cream! Mmmmm! These flavors speak my love language.
We have one more full day – today – and 69 degrees and sun in the forecast – so we’re hoping to get outside and enjoy the beach one last time before heading home to snow and sleet tomorrow.
Happy Spring Break!

Hi, friends! Happy FRIDAY to you!
I got home late last night because I went to the JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE concert last night with my friend Marisa, and, my gosh, we had an awesome time! What an awesome performer. Our evening also included a CrossFit workout and dinner and drinks at Legal Harborside, so it was quite the “moms’ night out!” So, it’s Friday and you know what that means! It’s time for the next edition of What I’m Loving Lately.
Kashi Go Lean Peanut Butter Crunch – OMG, this stuff is delicious! It actually reminds me of my Healthy (& Highly Addictive) Peanut Butter Granola, which is one of my favorite granolas ever!
Hornstra delivery – We’ve talked about getting Hornstra products delivered to our house basically since we discovered the service, but we never pulled the trigger until Mal’s school field trip a couple of weeks ago. He learned so much about the farm and its operations, it totally sold him. Now, we’re loving the convenience of the service as well as the “farm fresh” products!
How To Actually Get Sh*t Done, According To Science – Lots of helpful tidbits and ideas for getting stuff done!
Samina Dress – I freakin’ love this dress and just ordered it in black heather. Lovvvvveee! I can’t wait to get it! 🙂 This hooded sweatshirt dress was also a contender, but I ultimately liked the price and “lightweight-ness” of the one I purchased. It’s still super cute though!
Zella Layer Me Pullover – I’ve blogged about this top in the past (isn’t it adorable?!), but just want to let you guys know it’s on sale for just $35 right now! Speaking of Zella favorites, the En Route Hoodie that I also own and love is now 40% off!
General Tso’s Chicken – This recipe from Skinnytaste looks amazingggggg! I already asked my coach if I could have it on my meal plan next week! 🙂
‘Better Sweater’ Jacket – I get so many questions about my Nike hoodie that’s made out of this same sweater-fleece material, so I wanted to share a jacket version of it because it’s super cute and looks so cozy! I want!
Zoku Iced Coffee Maker – Let me preface this by saying I have no idea if this actually works, but I love the idea – and the reviews on Amazon were pretty good. You chill this stainless steel mug in the freezer, then pop it in the insulating sleeve before you pour in your hot coffee. In minutes, it chills it without diluting it! I love that’s it’s a travel mug too. I might just need one in my life! 🙂
Laney II Trench Raincoat from The North Face– I’m sort of in the market for a new raincoat and recently stumbled upon this one. I haven’t commit yet, but I’m leaving it here for future reference in case I decide to take the plunge and buy it. Just wanted to pass along in case you’re shopping for a new raincoat, too! 🙂
The 20/30 Method at J.Crew – Take up to 20% off two items or 30% off three or more items!
5 Meatless Meals Meal Plan – Love this round-up of meatless meals for the week!
Question of the Day
What’s the best concert you’ve ever seen?
JT was pretty epic, but Coldplay and The Killers put on an amazing show too!
