Our First Experience with a (Non-Family) Overnight Babysitter

We had our first experience using a non-family overnight babysitter earlier this week. Mal and I were invited to spend a night on Nantucket, so we hired one of our long-time babysitters for the job. Everything went great, so I wanted to share the details. We were really no the fence about it and had a lot of questions – like how much do you pay an overnight babysitter?

My sister typically watches Quinn if we have a wedding to attend or another overnight event, but we ask her ALL the time. She also has two kids of her own, so we always feel kind of bad throwing Quinn into the mix too. Plus, this time, logistically, we needed to catch a ferry on Cape Cod, and my sister lives north of Boston. It would have been tough to coordinate with all of that driving. Basically, we wanted to explore an additional overnight option, and I’m so glad that we did!

Everything worked out great, and we’ll definitely hire our babysitter for another overnight in the future. I figured some parents without family nearby might be in the same boat. I hope you find this video about our first experience using a non-family overnight babysitter to be helpful!
