Our First Experience with a (Non-Family) Overnight Babysitter

Image
We had our first experience using a non-family overnight babysitter earlier this week. Mal and I were invited to spend a night on Nantucket, so we hired one of our long-time babysitters for the job. Everything went great, so I wanted to share the details. We were really no the fence about it and had a lot of questions – like how much do you pay an overnight babysitter? My sister typically watches Quinn if we have a wedding to attend or another overnight event, but we ask her ALL the time. She also has two kids of her own, so we always feel kind of bad throwing Quinn into the mix too. Plus, this time, logistically, we needed to catch a ferry on Cape Cod, and my sister lives north of Boston. It would have been tough to coordinate with all of that driving. Basically, we wanted to explore an additional overnight option, and I’m so glad that we did! Everything worked out great, and we’ll definitely hire our babysitter for another overnight in the future. I figured some parents without fa

Keto Strawberry Cream Pie

Dessert can be a final course—or it can be a true finale. This show-stopping pie definitely fits the latter category. Imagine setting this on the table in front of family and guests. Who do you think would be able to resist the colorful, creamy treat? We thought so. A little fluffier than cheesecake, the lighter filling is a great complement to a dense but sweet crust that will leave graham crackers in the dust. But the best thing? Slow Cooker Pork Loin Recipe

This slow cooker pork loin recipe is prepped and cooking in under 10 minutes! It’s great paired with your favorite traditional side dishes such as mashed potatoes, baked potatoes, brown rice, sweet potatoes, green beans, broccoli, Brussels sprouts or whatever other side dish you can think of! WHAT IS A SLOW COOKER? You may recognize it better if I refer to it as a crock pot. Technically, “crock pot” is a registered trademark of the company that makes slow cookers. They crock pot is a brand name slow cooker. “Slow cookers” are the actual name of the appliance. They are stand-alone, plug-in pots that cook at lower temperatures than regular types of cooking. They also cook for much longer periods of time. The benefit being that meats are very moist and “fall off the bone” tender. Meats as well as other foods don’t need to be watched, stirred or tended to once in the slow cooker. In fact, removing the lid to check on the food is not suggested. If you lift the lid, you’ll need to ad
