What I’m Loving Lately 124

Image
Hey, hey! Happy Thursday! This week is really flying by for me. Anyone else? Maybe it’s just because we’re off to Newport this weekend, which is one of our favorite weekends of the year. We’ve actually had a countdown going all week with Quinn because the place we stay every year has a heated indoor pool, and he is BEYOND pumped to swim in it. The kid lovvveeesss swimming. I actually just signed him up for swim lessons starting next week, so we’re really glad he’s still all about the water. Anyway… it’s time for this week’s What I’m Loving Lately. I have a fun round-up for you this morning, and I hope you enjoy it! šŸ™‚ Drink More Water Bottle – How adorable is this (glass) water bottle?! It’s such a great tool for encouraging you to drink more water! Keds Studio Dash – I received a few questions about the shoes that I wore to the corn maze over the weekend, and they’re one of my favorites from Keds. They’re the Studio Dash, and I wear them ALL the time! They’re super lightwe...

5 Tips For A Super Simple Meal Plan

Image
I promised you guys an update on my meal planning post from a few weeks ago. Here it is! I hope you aren’t disappointed that I don’t have this new grand plan with printables and tools and websites and “seven weekly staples” and all that jazz. After trying a few different methods, I realized that S I M P L I C I T Y was what I needed most. Surprise, surprise. The one major tool I did try out was the Plan To Eat meal planner . I liked it. It’s a great tool for those of you who are hard-core recipe savers and planners. (Although it does cost a monthly fee and I just did the trial.) My favorite feature was how it formatted the recipes for easy kitchen use. But it ended up being one more site to click into to check on dinner, and I found myself flip flopping back and forth between my meal planning calendar and my Google calendar way too much. I need flexibility and simplicity most of all. I thought doing a theme day might be my best solution, but even that wasn’t flexible enough. We a...

Tips for Hitting Your Protein Goal

Image
One of the most common questions that I get from nutrition clients is “ how do I get more protein into my diet? ” Consuming enough protein is so important – it keeps you satisfied, your blood sugar more steady, cravings at bay, and helps you better recover from your workouts. Clients are often looking for tips on how to include more protein in their meals and snacks, so here are some tips as well as my favorite high-protein recipes and products to help you hit your daily goal! TIPS FOR HITTING YOUR DAILY PROTEIN GOAL Plan your day ahead of time : This is my #1 piece of advice. Before you go to bed, plan your meals and snacks for the next day into MyFitnessPal – even if it’s JUST your protein for the day. (You can always fill in the gaps later.) That way, you’re not eating a bowl of egg whites at the end of the night! Make sure every meal and snack you eat has protein in it : It all adds up, so make sure even your snacks have a decent amount of protein in them. Supplemen...

13 Proven Health Benefits of Turmeric

Image
Years ago, I had a bad fall and injured my tailbone. It was one of the WORST pains I’d ever experienced. All the nerves surrounding my spine and lower back felt like they were on FIRE…Yoouuch!!! I was traveling for work at the time, and had to be pumped full of morphine just to get on the plane back home. I was bedridden for 3 weeks and miserable. I desperately tried every natural remedy I knew about to bring down the inflammation… and some things worked better than others. One of the most effective herbal supplements I took was a daily turmeric supplement . Thankfully, after several more weeks of turmeric supplements, acupuncture, and taking it easy, my tailbone had a full recovery. This was the first time I experienced for myself how powerful turmeric is. I’ve since learned that turmeric is even more amazing, and that it is literally PACKED with health benefits that can improve your skin, your heart, your mood, and even your waistline! To show you how remarkable this spice...

Hi friends – or should I say Howdy? šŸ˜‰ All cheesy jokes aside, if you’ve been following along over on Instagram you will know that a few weeks ago I took a little trip to Niman Ranch in Iowa for their 20th Annual Farmer Appreciation Weekend. For those of you who might be unfamiliar with this awesome organization, let me fill you in! Niman Ranch is actually more than just a single farm – it’s a network of U.S. farmers and ranchers dedicated to raising livestock humanely and sustainably. There are many brands out there that claim to never feed or administer antibiotics or added hormones to their livestock, but I got to witness firsthand that Niman Ranch holds true to this practice. All animals are raised following strict humane treatment and protocols, and they are never given antibiotics or hormones, period. In fact, all Niman Ranch pork, beef, and lamb are 100% Certified Humane. Niman Ranch is so committed to sustainable agriculture practices and supporting small, independent...
