Summer Adventures on the South Shore

Image
Hi, friends! We had quite a fun weekend here on the South Shore. After a busy July 4th on Cape Cod, our weekend was fairly low-key and very relaxing, but, at time same time, we kept ourselves occupied with a number of family adventures, including some old favorites as well as new ones! First up, swimming at the YMCA! We’ve been members for nearly a year now, but had NO IDEA we could use the outdoor pool. It actually used to be a separate Y membership, but now it’s included in the family membership. Woohoo! We were psyched to learn about this benefit, and we’ve visited the pool a ton since! πŸ™‚ Our friends told us about an incredible new flavor at Hornstra Farms, so we obviously needed to check it out. It’s their “birthday cake” flavor with a July 4th spin on it – vanilla ice cream mixed with chocolate cake and red and blue sprinkles. OMG, it was amazing! It’s a limited edition, so if you’re local, make sure you stop by ASAP to try it. I promise, it’s WORTH IT! On Sunday morning,...

Primal+Keto Cooking Made Easy: Sesame Ginger Broccoli

Image
Anyone who knows me well has seen how much broccoli I eat. It’s one of my go-to sides with chicken or steak at dinnertime. But that doesn’t mean I eat it the same way every day. While roasting is my favorite prep method for broccoli’s flavor, it’s all about the sauces and seasonings, too. One of my favorite ways to punch up broccoli: a sesame ginger flavor. Check it out. Sesame Ginger Broccoli Servings: 2 Prep Time: 2 minutes Cook Time: 20 minutes Ingredients: 1 large head of broccoli (use florets) 1/4 cup Primal Kitchen® Avocado Oil 1/3 cup Primal Kitchen Sesame Ginger Dressing Instructions: Preheat oven to 425 ΒΊF. 3 days, 3 pool parties

Image
We got in the pool! A few of them actually. ‘Twas the weekend of pool parties. (And yes that’s sunscreen all over my face – lol!) Swim dresses were the theme of the weekend. (This one is old school Title Nine !) Friday On Friday afternoon Mazen and I went to Sarah’s for a 5th of July party (yes that’s a thing!) I didn’t take many pics because my phone was tucked away in my pool bag, but we had loads of fun! I had grilled flatbread and kale pesto and kale salad and half a burger plus a yummy themed cake. Thomas and Birch had a guy’s night at home and he texted me this sweet photo before bedtime. Saturday I went to bed early and got up early to head to ACAC for a special workout class. I look forward to it all week. Came home to baby in jammies + lots of snuggles. { Baby shark jammies. } Brunch I had quiche + berries for a post workout brunch. (And a date with sunbutter + coffee for a preworkout snack.) The mail came with this epic delivery from Winc . I’m good on reds ...

Summer Ratatouille

Image
As we head into midsummer, we’re already enjoying the first early harvests. This summer ratatouille is the perfect choice for showcasing and enjoying the very best of the summer season’s produce. Whether you’re serving it as a savory vegan and vegetarian main course or as a generous side dish for some backyard barbecue, this dish is sure to impress all your guests. Servings: 4 Prep Time: 30 minutes Cooking Time: 80 minutes Notes: The ingredients are broken down by type of vegetable for easy arranging later on, but you can cut down on bowls and prep by combining the zucchini and squash/bell pepper ingredients together. Allowing the eggplant to marinate separately ensures the slices stay moist and flavorful while cooking. You can also experiment with different herbs and herb blends with this dish, including basil, rosemary, herbs de provence, etc. Your options are endless! The vegetables are arranged in an oven-safe dish and covered with aluminum foil prior to baking. If you’d ...

Updates on Favorite Plant-Based Protein Powder + Life Coaching

Image
Good morning! Happy Saturday to you! I hope you had an awesome July 4th holiday! Ours was really great – here’s a blog recap (with timestamps!) if you’re interested! πŸ™‚ I’m going old school this morning with a food + lifestyle post like I used to write back in the day. On the menu: Two rice cakes (only one pictured) with Teddie peanut butter, cinnamon, and banana slices. The other day, I actually had a complimentary life coaching call with Tyra Woodall that really helped me identify my passions as far as the blog and nutrition coaching go. I wasn’t sure what to expect from a coaching call, but it was super helpful and surpassed my expectations. Long story short, I hope to bring you guys more “day in the life” content and EASY recipes (related: make sure you’re on my newsletter list if you want my weekly “Throw-Together Meals” email ). I also want to personally take on more one-on-one nutrition clients because I really love to help people make sense of all of the crazy/complicate...

July 4th on the Cape [Timestamps]

Image
We had quite the July 4 celebration!! πŸ™‚ We headed down to our friends’ house in Centerville on Cape Cod the night before July 4th and stayed through most of the holiday the next day. As a way to recap, I wanted to switch things up and share some snapshots with timestamps from our mini vacation away. I hope you enjoy it! πŸ™‚ July 3 We were up and at ’em on Wednesday morning with last-minute packing, breakfast and other activities before we started our drive down to the Cape. Breakfast was a rice cake with ground flax (I’m still seed cycling ), pumpkin butter , cinnamon, and banana slices. Mmm! It was delicious, nutritious, and super satisfying! And, of course, iced coffee with collagen and caramel-flavored Nutpods was on the agenda. I swear, my day always goes better with this combo in-hand! πŸ™‚ Then, it was time to pack up the car and hit the road. Our first stop was the “dog spa” where Murphy spent the night with our new dog sitter and her four pups. (He had a great time, btw...
