Old School Blogging

Image
Good morning! So, I’ve been thinking a lot about old school blogging lately. Basically, how CNC started back in the day. If you’ve read for a long time, you might remember it was an online journal of my meals, snacks, and workouts with some recipes and random life updates thrown in. I’ve debated going back to that style for awhile now. The blog posts were a lot shorter and often times just showed what I ate – and sometimes included 5 photos of a single bowl of oatmeal. Haha! Would you guys like to see posts like this again? Are they interesting to you? Of course, I’ll thrown in some randomness from my day, but just wanted to put my feelers out. So, today, I’m driving around a rental car. I took my car in for an oil change yesterday and left with an estimate for $4,500. Oy. Well, that was the most expensive oil change ever! Apparently, my car needs some work done. Once I picked up car, I headed to Whole Foods to meet Kerrie for some catching up and work talk. While there, I dug in

Midweek Quick Cooking: Turmeric Scrambled Eggs

If a spice jar of turmeric has been sitting unused in your spice rack, here’s an idea: add a dash to scrambled eggs. It’s an easy way to add turmeric to your diet . If you want a double hit of turmeric, keep a nub of fresh turmeric root in the fridge, and grate a little over eggs once they’re cooked. First, heat a tablespoon of fat in a small saucepan. Butter, ghee, and coconut oil are all great choices with turmeric, but if you haven’t tried red palm oil  with scrambled eggs, give it a try. The heavy texture of red palm oil thickens the scramble, so it’s almost like eating an omelet. Plus, there’s something about the flavor of red palm oil that’s really great with eggs. Once the oil is hot, add the powdered turmeric. Heating spices in fat is called “tempering,” and it’s a technique used often in Indian and Middle Eastern cuisines. Hot fat unlocks the flavor, aroma and healing properties of spices. Start with just a dusting of turmeric, especially if you’re not used to the slight

Real Food Wednesday.

Back to my roots – three meals!! Breakfast // Overnight oats with milk, yogurt, chia, banana, and peanut butter. And coffee. (Always one cup of coffee first!) Lunch // Turkey wrap with cream cheese, pickle, greens, and jalapenos with half a green juice. Snack // Wegmans trail mix! The kind with M&M lookalikes. Because, duh! Dinner // Panko salmon with brown basmati and cream cheese garlic zucchini I learned this panko trick from Blue Apron eons ago: dust with salt and pepper, smooth on a thin layer of Dijon mustard, pat on panko (this was Pecan Panko from WF), and bake for 18 minutes at 375 degrees. Perfection! What did you eat today? The post Real Food Wednesday. appeared first on Kath Eats Real Food . from Kath Eats Real Food http://ift.tt/2nTvhH5
